16th October 2020 - Parent Newsletter

We would like to begin this letter with a THANK YOU to our whole school community.

We have had a strong start to the school year. Pupils returned enthusiastic and happy and we continue to be impressed with the way they are adapting and behaving so responsibly.

In these changing times we have all pulled together ensure the school is and remains “COVID secure” to maximise the safety of our community. Thank you to parents who have been extra vigilant/proactive with your child’s health and to our support team who have been tirelessly cleaning and sanitising classrooms several times a day!

Some of you may have noticed that we have been very quiet on the communication front this half term, for which we apologise.  Our priority has been on the pupils’ wellbeing, and with the constant changing news it has often been difficult determine what message we should convey without adding confusion or fear.  We are committed rebalancing our communications after half term and will be sending a short weekly newsletter. Please ensure you have downloaded and registered for “TheSchoolApp” on your mobile to receive updates and dates for your diary this term.

Staff leavers

This half term we have a few members of staff leaving us for different chapters in their lives.

Mrs Knight has relocated down to sunny Cornwall! She will continue to do some ad-hoc work for the school but sadly we won’t have her welcoming face in the office. We will miss her dearly but wish her all the best in her new endevours.

Mr Trusson will be leaving us for new horizons at half term. Mr T taught Science in the main school for 2 years, supporting pupils to access Entry Level and GCSE qualifications. More recently he was the Form Tutor and Lead Teacher for 7LP and finally teaching in Sixth Form. Mr Trusson has a real gift for establishing excellent relationships with the pupils and I know he will be missed by pupils and staff alike – particularly his spontaneous guitar and music lessons! We wish him all the best for the future!

Finally, Miss Smith has left the school to broaden her horizons elsewhere. We would like to thank her for her enthusiasm and commitment to the English Department. She would like to take this opportunity to send her best wishes to you all.

I wish you all the best for the coming half term and well earned rest!
