Deaf Instructor

£3,277-£3,612 (Pay Award Pending)

Philip Southcote School is a progressive and inclusive values-based community. This is a very exciting time for us as our school is expanding from 180 to 270 pupils, not only on our main site, but a new off-site 6th Form and 3 Satellite Centres. Due to a rising number of pupils within the school, we currently have a position for a Deaf Instructor.  If you are committed to supporting our school vision, then this could be the position for you.

Job Purpose

  • To complement the professional work of Subject Teachers, Teachers of the Deaf and Communication Support Workers by taking responsibility for supporting Deaf pupils within the classroom, small groups or on a 1:1 basis to develop their BSL skills to become independent communicators through sign
  • To assess, monitor and evaluate the development of BSL for our Deaf students, working with the specialist SaLT and other professionals as appropriate
  • To promote BSL across the school and 6th form, supporting with teaching hearing students and staff BSL as opportunities arise
