"The Sixth form is outstanding and students make outstanding progress in their accredited courses, benefitting from high-quality vocational opportunities which prepare them extremely well for their futures".
Ofsted report, October 2013
The Post 16 unit here at Philip Southcote School provides a safe environment for more vulnerable students, who require specialist teaching and pastoral support to access the curriculum. Priority will be given to students with sensory impairments who require specialist support.
Students in the Unit follow a curriculum that meets their individual needs in order to prepare them for life after school; the world of work, college or a more specialist provision.
We focus on life skills and students spend some of the week out in the community learning in real settings.
Literacy and numeracy remain an integral part of our curriculum and is embedded throughout our life skills. All students work towards accreditation tailored to their needs. Students have the opportunity to work towards accreditations in Functional Skills and PSE, alongside Vocational Entry level and BTEC qualifications.
