Mural Unveiled in Guildford.
After waiting patiently with anticipation, the Artventure community mural was ready for unveiling and the students involved were able to see their contributions as part of a thirty two foot long installation at The Electric Theatre, Guildford. This was a great opportunity for the pupils of Philip Southcote School to showcase their abilities and achievements alongside others. Next time you are in Guildford take a look for yourself.
Here are some of their thoughts:
“My name is SL and today I went to The Electric Theatre to see The Mayor open the mural. I got to see my Dr. Who, tardis and Harry Potter that I drew which was very special. We had crisps and orange juice and met the Lady Mayor and the man who planned the project. They said it was really good to see a project come to life for everyone to see. Mr. Wood, school governor and JP'S mum came too. It was her birthday so it was good she got to see JP’s paintings on the wall.
My favourite bit was seeing my piece of the mural and knowing it will be seen by lots of people. It makes me feel brilliant. I loved doing the project.”
“It was awesome! We got off the minibus and we saw our paintings on the wall. It was as long as the corridor. We went inside and met people and the Lady Mayor opened the mural officially. It was funny because The Electric Theatre lady said that I had super powers because I had predicted the break-up of a pop group by drawing one of them separately. We did a quiz and went out to show people our parts of the mural. There were crisps and sandwiches for us all to have, and juice too. I felt excited because I was part of the project and people will see it for ages.” EMR.
